Early liver disease detection could be improved using routine blood test data in SAIL Databank

A Wales‑based study using the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) Databank, funded by Health and Care Research Wales (HCRW), found that a structured approach to interpreting routine blood tests can detect liver disease much earlier.

Automatically flagging abnormal results increased diagnoses of chronic liver disease and cirrhosis, supporting earlier intervention.
